Ask the Experts (Live Q&A) Dr. Jennifer Simmons – Conquering Breast Cancer: A holistic approach

Dr. Jennifer Simmons, our core faculty member of the Health and Healing Club, is coming on to answer your questions related to Conquering Breast Cancer: A holistic approach.

LIVE Q&A is on Monday, December 20th, at 03:30pm Eastern Time

If you can not attend the live session, you can submit your questions ahead of time and we will get through as many as possible.

Dr. Jenn spent the first 17 years of her career as one of the country’s top breast cancer surgeons. Her own experience as a patient with autoimmune disease led her to functional medicine. So enamored with the prospect of preventing and reversing disease rather than masking symptoms, she left her prestigious position in 2019 to start Real Health MD, a functional medicine oasis for those affected by breast cancer. Her course, My Answer to Breast CancerTM, helps motivated women put their breast cancer diagnosis behind them by providing the tools they need to build health. Dr. Jenn’s mission is to educate those affected by breast cancer on the principles of anti-inflammatory living. Whether people know or not, chronic inflammation is the issue that leads people to a breast cancer diagnosis regardless of genetic predisposition. Dr. Jenn and her team help people to create an anti-inflammatory environment, whatever that means for them. Together they learn and install the pillars of health into their lives. These include a nutrient dense, plant-based diet, proper nourishment, restorative sleep, joyful movement, mindfulness practices, avoiding toxins in all forms, and living a spiritually full, purpose driven, connected life.

Dr. Jenn has been on Philly’s TOP DOCs consistently since 2012. In 2019, just two months after opening Real Health MD, she was on the cover of Main Line Today’s TOP DOCs issue as a top integrative medicine physician.

Dr. Simmons frequently speaks on her health journey, and on what she has learned while healing herself. She continues to serve the breast cancer population by helping them and others to achieve hormonal health.

  1. Hello,
I recently had a biopsy on an area that was suspect in one of my breasts. The area is deep and I am to go into get a follow up test done to make sure if it is not changing. What are suggestions to start to keep this tissue healthy–apricot seeds or other?
    Thanks.

  2. What is the best way, including any test, imaging and lab work to request that oncologist order, to confirm “all is well,” following mastectomy and how often should this be done? If oncologist will not order, because not standard of care or covered by insurance, what is best route to take for securing tests oncologist cannot order?

  3. I have been dealing with a breast cancer tumor for two years. I have followed several protocols from the Breast Cancer Conquerer to my own naturopathic doctor to Dr Flavin in the UK. Although my bloodwork comes back great every three months, I am frustrated that my tumor has grown instead of shrinking. I wanted to do this naturally but I’m not sure if I’m doing the correct thing. I have spent thousands of dollars on supplements as well as these different programs I have joined for my protocol. I am scared that this tumor may get out of hand. I don’t know what to do at this point but would love some suggestions.

  4. Hello, I heard the “C” vacc suppresses the immune system so it will no longer work to fight off any infection or fight cancer. Is there something that can be done and that is accessible to keep the immune system intact when being injected with the vacc. It is being forced under heavy threat. If I don’t have a job then there will be no treatment for the cancer.

  5. What helps with hair regrowth after losing a lot of hair? Biotin? Collagen? Glutathione?

    1. Are there integrative options I can choose to use if I remain on hormone treatment and targeted therapy for MBC.

  6. Would infrared saunas help prevent cancer or recover from cancer? If so, what to look for in infrared saunas? Far infrared, near infrared? protection from EMF? Any brand recommendations?

Hello! I am wondering if taking DIM after removal of ER+ breast cancer tumor is advisable. I do not want to take the arimidex for 5 years as the doctors advise. I have been told by some that DIM is a good alternative. What do you think about DIM?

  8. Assuming one is not cachectic, what is the best way/what foods are recommended to gain weight?

  9. 1) Is there a relationship between thyroid health and breast cancer? I have subclinical Hashimoto’s with TPO antibodies of 157, TSH of 4.5, T3 and T4 in the normal range. If so, what would you recommend to improve both conditions? Is iodine contraindicated in the context of Hashimoto’s? What about cruciferous vegetables?

    2) Are there any natural and safer alternatives to Tamoxifen for ER/PR positive breast cancer?
